How To Change The Canvas Colour In Cricut design Space

When you are designing projects it can sometimes be helpful to see how your design will look on a certain background colour. What vision you have in your mind might not look good when it is made. By changing the canvas colour this will allow you to see how your design will look on a certain colour. This will save both time and materials. In this blog I will show you step by step how to change the canvas colour in cricut design space.

Step 1 Load your design onto the canvas

Load a design that you wish to use onto your design space canvas. The design space canvas is always defaulted to white.

You can also see in the layers panel there is a colour box for the canvas.

Step 2 Changing the colour

Along the top of the canvas in the edit bar you will see a colour box. As the canvas is white, the colour in the box will also be white.

Click on the colour box and it will open a box named material colours. This will show you a range of colours.

To select one of those colours, simply click on the colour and the canvas background will change to be that colour. You will now see that the canvas has changed colour.

The colour box in the edit bar at the top of the screen has also changed to be the same colour as the canvas. The blank canvas box in the layers panel will also have changed colour to match the canvas colour.

Step 3 Selecting different colours

If the colour you require is not in the material colours selection, click on advanced. clicking on advanced will open more advanced options to select the correct colour.

In the colour box you can move the circle around and that will select different shades of a colour. The colour bar below will allow you to select the initial colour you wish to choose from.

If you know the hex code for the colour you are wanting to use, then you can enter the code in the box. This will select the exact colour you are wanting to use for your background.

Changing the background colour of the canvas is really quick and simple to do but could save you valuable time and money.
