How to tie a perfect bow every time

Making your bows look perfect every time can be quite tricky. In this blog I want to share with you how to tie the perfect bow every time. This works especially well if your ribbon is a different colour on both sides.

Getting started

Prepare your project or present and lay your ribbon underneath.

Start by tying the ribbon as if you was making a knot. Cross the ribbon over. Placing the left side of the ribbon over the right side of the ribbon.

Tie the ribbon by wrapping the ribbon at the top under the ribbon that is at the bottom. Pull the ribbon up towards the top corner and down towards the bottom corner.

Forming the bow

With the ribbon that is in your left hand make a small loop. Keep this held in your left hand.

With the ribbon in your right hand, wrap this around the loop going in an anti clockwise direction.

When this has been wrapped all the way around once. Then start to wrap it around again. Do this until you have almost done two full circles.

When the ribbon that you have in your right hand is at the front of your loop, you need to then tuck the ribbon back under the ribbon that has been wrapped around the loop.

When it has been tucked under then pull the ribbon tight and you will see that a perfect bow is starting to form.

Adjust the bow and keep pulling it tight until you are happy with the bow.

Finishing Touches

Once you are happy with the bow, cut the ends to make it look a bit more decorative and finished off.

You should now be left with the perfect bow for your gift or project.
