I love a good book so when i am out and about i love to take my book with me. Any opportunity to read is a bonus. There is nothing better than having a book pouch to keep my book protected in my bag. I like to keep my books in a good condition and i don't want them getting wet either from my drink. In this blog i will walk you through step by step how to sew a book pouch. These are really easy to make and very beginner friendly. They can also be made in any material or colour of your choice.

Step 1
Cut 2 pieces of the material. I cut mine to be 28cm long by 7cm wide. These are going to make the straps for the book pouch.

Fold the material in half length ways and use the material clips to hold the material in place.

Step 2
Sew the straps down the longest side and along one of the short ends.

Turn the straps the right way around. I did this by using a wooden dowel.

Once the straps are the right way around press them using the mini heat press.

Step 3
Cut 2 pieces of the black and orange material. I cut my material to be 20cm by 26cm each.

Put right sides together and sew along the longest edge of the material. Repeat this for the black and orange material.

Lay the material flat and iron down the seam.

Step 4
Fold the black material in half to find the centre point. Fold the strap in half to find the centre point of the strap.

Line up the two centre points and use material clips to hold them in place.

Sew the straps in place.

Step 5
Line up the centre parts of the material. This will make sure they are central.

Once the material is lined up, pin the material in place to hold it whilst you sew.

Sew down the short edges of the material.

Step 6
Now open the material and line it up so that the black material is together on the same side and the orange material is together on the same side. Use the material clips to clip the material in place. Leave a small gap in the orange material to allow you to turn the material the right way around.

Once you have sewn the material, turn it the right way around. Use the mini heat press to iron the material.

Use the sewing machine to sew up the gap in the orange material.

Step 7
Place the lining material inside the outer material. The straps should now also be on the outside.

Your book pouch is now complete and ready to put your book inside and enjoy.
