Pompoms are a great craft activity that anyone can do. The beauty is that you don't even need much to make them, just a ball off wool and some scissors. If you have a pompom maker then you can make a pompom by using that. If you don't have a pompom maker then don't worry as you can make a pompom several different ways. This could be by using toilet rolls, cardboard, your hand, and a fork. Once you have made a round pompom I will explain how to make a heart shaped pompom.
Step 1 - Making the pompom

Take your wool and start by making your pompom in your chosen way. I made mine using a pompom maker.
Wrap the wool round the pompom maker until both arms of the pompom maker are fully covered. Close the pompom maker and cut through the wool. Tie a stand of wool through the middle of the pompom maker and pull this tight. Tie the wool several times to secure the pompom. Release the pompom maker and you now have a fluffy pompom.
Trim any longer or loose strands and you will be left with a perfect pompom.
Step 2 - Making a heart shape
Cut a heart shape out of a piece of paper or card. This must be slightly smaller than the actual pompom.
Place the heart shape on top of your pompom and start to cut around the heart shape.
Step 3 - cutting the middle of the heart
Once the heart shape is cut out you now need to cut the centre of the heart to make it more defined. Take some smaller scissors and cut from front to back. This will just finish off the heart shape nicely and give you a perfect heart shape.
Finished
You now have your completed heart shaped pompom.
