With making your wreath you can really get creative and match a wreath to your decor, theme or season. In this blog I want to share with you how to make a heart shaped tulle wreath. Sharing with you how easy they are to make and the supplies that I used.

Step 1

Using the card template cut out pieces of the tulle. To save time I layered 4 different coloured pieces of tulle on top of each other and cut them all together. I alternated the colours of the tulle to give some variations in colour. I used the rotary cutter to cut all the tulle, if you don't have a rotary cutter then scissors are fine to use.

Step 2

Take a pipe cleaner, fold it in half and cut through the folded part. This will now leave you with 2 pieces of pipe cleaner. Set the pipe cleaners to the side.

Rolling up the cut pieces of tulle

Take one of the cut pieces of tulle and start to roll it. Keep the rolls quite small trying to keep the rolls straight. Don't worry too much if the rolls are not perfect as this won't be too noticeable once the wreath is assembled.

Roll all 4 pieces of tulle separately. Once you have all 4 pieces of tulle rolled up take the pipe cleaner and wrap it around the middle of the tulle. Twist the pipe cleaner to ensure that it holds all 4 pieces of tulle together.

Set aside and repeat step 2 approx 50 times. This will then give you enough bundles to fill your wreath.

Step 3

Using the pipe cleaners to secure the tulle onto to threat shaped wreath

Once you have all your bundles of tulle rolled and tied you now need to start assembling your wreath. Turn the wire wreath over and push the pipe cleaner through the wire. Twist the end of the pipe cleaner around the wire so that it is secured onto the wire wreath. I started at the bottom of the wreath, trying to keep each side symmetrical. I worked my way up to the top.

Using the wires on the back I placed some of the tulle bundles on the inside and some on the outside of the wire heart. I felt this gave the wreath a fuller look.

Step 4

Once you have covered all the wire wreath you should have a stunning colourful looking wreath.

If you can see any gaps that allow you to see the wire through make up a few extra bundles of tulle to fill the gaps.

Once you are happy with the placement of all the tulle bundles you can trim off the excess pieces of pipe cleaner making the back of your wreath look neater.

Now you are ready to hang your wreath in pride of place for everyone to admire.
