Pet beds are super soft and cute for our pets and they are also so easy to make. You can make pet beds using a blanket you have bought or from old bedding, towels and even clothes. In this blog I will show you how to make a pet bed.

I bought an ultra soft throw from Home Bargains and it cost me £4.99.
I also used a pillow for the filling. I bought 2 polyester pillows from Asda for £4.00 but I only needed 1 pillow for this project.

Step 1
Undo all the blanket and fold the blanket in half. Then fold each half in half again. Make sure each side of the blanket join in the middle. Try and make each side as even as possible.
Step 2

I made a template using A4 sheets of papers as a guide to help me cut the material. You don't actually need to do that because an easy way to do it is to take the edge of your material and simply measure a 13 inch width. Start at a one side and measure around and keep marking it at intervals all the way around and then join up your markings and make a semi circle. Once you have cut the material it will give you a circle with a diameter of 26''.

Step 3

Draw around the edge of the pattern with chalk and then cut through the chalk line. As the material is folded in half you are cutting through both sides at once. If you have fabric pens or fabric pencils that you'll be able to see on the your material you can use those. I do quite like using the chalk because it doesn't mark the material and it just rubs out once we have cut out the semi circle. When we open up the blanket we have quite a decent sized 26'' Circle. Repeat this now with the other side of the material.

Step 4
Now you have the two circles put them best side together. Pin around the edge. Little glass head pins are perfect to pin the two pieces of material together. Leave a small Gap. The gap will allow us to turn the pet bed inside out once we have sewn it.

Step 5
Now it's time to sew the blanket. Sew all the way around the edge where it is pinned. Once it has been sewn turn the bed the right way round using the gap.

Step 6
To make the cat bed a little more interesting, sew another circle in the middle. I made a pattern for a smaller Circle which has a diameter of 15 inches. Find the centre part of your outer circle and then using chalk draw around the pattern.

Sew around the chalk line leaving a gap to allow you to add the stuffing to the inner circle. I marked a couple of lines so I knew where the gap was going to be. I tried to make them in line with the gap that I already have for the Outer Circle.
Step 7

Once the circle is sewn in the middle, take the pillow and start to stuff it. Push the filling all the way to the edges. Make it nice and puffy to give some nice padding for your pet. When you've filled it as much as you want to sew up the gap to keep all the stuffing contained.

Stuff the Outer Circle with the pillow, again making it nice and puffy. Once you're happy with your stuffed outer ring sew up the gap. You can sew it by hand or with a sewing machine. I just folded in the edges and machine stitched it just to give it a bit more security so that it doesn't come apart.
Now your pet bed is ready for your pet to enjoy.
