Step 1

Head over into design space and design the image/text that you wish to put on the front of your bag. For the design I typed in the text that I wanted, the fonts I used were paper notes and DTC Marker. You can choose any font you wish. I also added a design that I purchased from design bundles.

Once you are happy with the size of the design and text, select all the design and click attach. This will keep the design exactly as you want it when you send it to be cut. When you are ready click 'make it'.

Step 2

Taking the HTV, prepare the mat by laying the HTV shiny side down on the mat.

You will see how the design is going to look once its on the mat. As we are using HTV we MUST mirror the image before we cut it.

Step 3

Select the materials you are going to use. I always select premium vinyl and I also select more pressure. I find that these settings together gives me a nice clean cut every time.

Design space make it screen allowing me to select the material I wish to use and the pressure setting.

Click on the flashing Cricut button to start the cut.

Step 4

Once the cut is complete, click to unload the cricut mat.

The best way to remove the vinyl is to flip the mat over and remove the vinyl from the mat to prevent curling.

How I remove the vinyl by flipping over the mat and removing the mat from the vinyl to prevent the vinyl curling.

Step 5

Trim around the design to save any vinyl for another project and to also save time weeding.

Weed the design, leaving behind only the design for the front of the bag.

Weeding the unwanted from vinyl from the design that I have cut out. Leaving me with just the vinyl design to go on the front of my bag.

Step 6

Using a lint roller, remove any bits from the front of the canvas bag.

Using a lint roller to remove any lint from the front of the canvas bag before I heat press on the design.

Press the bag using the heat press, this will remove any moisture from the bag.

Place the design on the front of the bag, making sure it is central. I do sometimes measure around my design to make sure it is central. Once you are happy with the position, take the heat press and press the design onto the front of the bag for 30 seconds. Turn the bag over and press the back of the bag for 15 seconds, this just helps the design to adhere to the bag.

Lining up the design to make sure it is central before I heat press it on.

Remove the carrier sheet from the design carefully, if any part of the design starts to lift up replace the carrier sheet and press again.

Removing the carrier sheet after heat pressing on the design.

Now your design is all adhered to the bag your bag is now ready to be used or given as a gift.

Finished product. Canvas zip up bag with a vinyl design on the front saying Dad's bag of chargers and probably not the one he wants.
