I love sewing with felt as it is such an easy material to sew with and looks great. Making these easy to make felt conversation hearts are so much fun and are a lovely little craft. You don't just have to make them for Valentines day either, as I think they would be great at any time of the year.
Materials
To make these cute conversation hearts I used the following supplies:

Step 1
Cut out a heart shape from your coloured felt. I made my heart 4 inches wide.

Measure across the front of the heart to make sure you have enough room for your desired text.

Step 2
In design space, start to type in the word going on the front of your heart. I typed in hugs.

Click on the font box and select a font that you wish to use. I selected Alesand Round.

Once the font has been selected, change the size of your text. I made my text 2 inches wide and the height changed accordingly.

Step 3
Once you are happy with the font and size of your design click on make it. This will take you to the next screen. Design space will show the design on a mat, showing you where your design will be cut out.
As I am using HTV I have mirrored my text. Always mirror the image or text when you are using HTV.

Next, select the materials and pressure that you wish to use. I selected Premium vinyl and set the pressure to be more. I find this combination cuts the vinyl really well.

Step 4
Prepare the mat with the HTV. Always place HTV shiny side down. Make sure the HTV covers the area where the mat screen showed the text will be cut out.

Step 5
Once the vinyl has been cut, weed the vinyl so you only have the word left showing.

Step 6
Using the heat press, heat up the front of the heart. This will remove any moisture from the felt. Place the weeded vinyl onto the front of the heart.
I used the tape measure to make sure that the design was central before pressing for approx 15 seconds. Once the design is fully adhered to the felt, slowly remove the carrier sheet from the vinyl.

Step 7
Place the two parts of the heart together, using a blanket stitch sew all the way around the edge of the heart.

Leave a small gap and fill the heart with wadding. Continue to sew the heart to close up the gap.

Now your conversation heart if all completed and ready to enjoy.
