If you like to celebrate Valentines day then, my Easy to make budget friendly valentines banner is going to be perfect for you. You don't have to go mad with valentines decorations, but adding a few decor items can make a big improvement. With everything still increasing in price this is a win win for your budget too. Follow along and you will soon have a cute handmade budget friendly valentines banner. You can add what ever wording you choose on your banner, you just need to make the relevant amount of flags and hearts.
Supplies i used:

Any old book
Step 1
Decide how many flags you are going to make. Open your book and rip out enough pages to make all your flags.

Step 2
Fold the pages in half long ways. Try not to crease the pages too much as we need them to be flat. Take the scissors and make a cut from the bottom folded corner. Cut in a diagonal line. This will form the bottom of the flags.

Now you should have some flags that look like the picture below.

Step 3
Take the hole punch and punch a hole in the each of the top corners. I like to try and punch all my flags at the same time. This way all the holes are in the same place and looks cohesive when the flags are on the twine.

Step 4
Take the red card. I used red card that had a glitter effect but you can use any type or colour of card. Make a heart shaped template. I cut mine using a cricut cutting machine. I made the hearts 3 inches in width which i thought was a really nice size to fit in the centre if the page. If you don't have a cutting machine then you can download a template from google and use that to make your hearts. Cut enough hearts to place one on each one of your book pages.

Once they are cut place them on the book pages to position them and check they are the right size.

Step 5
Apply a strip of double sided tape to the back of each heart. Use this to stick the hearts to the book pages.

Remove the strip on the back of the tape and position the heart on the book page. I like to use the centre of the cut out part of the triangle as a guide to where i need position the bottom point of my heart. Once you are happy with the position, press firmly to attach it in place. Repeat this process until all the book pages have hearts on them.

Step 6
Now you have your hearts on the book pages you are ready to write your message. I just wrote the word love using a sharpie. You can write any word or message you like.

This is how the hearts look now i written on them.

Step 7
The last thing you need to do is thread the twine/wool/jute through the holes. Then your valentines banner will be ready to hang and enjoy.
