Step 1

Create a template for your banner flag. I used a flag design that I had on cricut design space so I just printed that out onto card and cut it out. I did the same with the Happy Birthday letters.

Use the card templates to cut out the banner flags and letters from the glitter card. Make sure that when you are drawing around the letters they are the wrong way round. This is very important otherwise they will be backwards when you attach them to your flags.

Using a card template of the flag design and the letters to draw around on the back of the glitter card. making sure the letters are backwards.

Step 2

When the flags have been cut out take the hole punch and punch holes in the top of the flags over the circles. Repeat this on all the flags.

Using a hope punch to make holes in the top of the card flag shapes to thread the ribbon through.

Step 3

Place the foam pads on the back of the smaller card flag and letters. You do not need to put the sticky pads on the back of the biggest card flag.

Attaching foam pads onto the back of the glitter card flag and letters to start assembling the flags.

Step 4

Assemble the banner flag. Lay the largest flag on the desk. Take the remaining flag, remove the backing paper from the foam pads. Place on top of the larger flag. Line up the holes and once in position press down firmly. Now repeat this process with the letters. Remove the backing paper from the foam pads, line up the letters and press down firmly once in place.

A finished flag. Silver glitter card flag shape, with a smaller blue glitter flag on top. A silver glitter card letter H is attached to the blue glitter flag.

Step 5

Take the ribbon or string and start to thread this through the holes in the banner flags. I like to start from the last flag. This way I don't need to pre guess and cut the length of the ribbon needed. I find this also saves times and wastage. Repeat with all words for your banner.

I have just made a Happy Birthday banner but you could also add a name too if you wish.

Step 6

Tie each end of the ribbon to allow you to hang up your banner flags.

The glitter card makes really posh looking banners that you can make in any colour of your choice. You could also used textured card as an alternative and I think that would look really effective too. The banners are perfect to keep and use year after year to save keep buying new ones.
