Everyone loves scrunchies! I love scrunchies, so the thought of being able to make my own cute scrunchies fills my with joy. I really could not believe how easy they were to make with just a few supplies. Once you start making cute scrunchies, you are seriously going to be addicted to making them. In this blog I will share step by step how to sew a scrunchie.

Step 1 Preparing the material
I cut a length of material that was 24" long by 3 1/2" wide. Fold the material so that the right sides of the material are together. Using the clips, clip the material to hold it in place whilst sewing.
Step 2 Sewing the material
Starting at the top, sew all the way down the edge of the material, leaving roughly a 1/4" seam allowance.
Step 3 Turning the material the right way around
Using a safety pin, attach the pin to one end of the material.
Push the safety pin through the material. As you go along you will be able to start to pull the material over itself. Push the pin all the way until it comes out the other end.
Your material should look like the picture below.
Step 4 Adding the elastic
Cut a piece of elastic 6 1/2" long. Secure a safety pin to either end of the elastic. Secure one end of the elastic to the material and push the other pin through the material until it comes out the other end.
Your material with the elastic through the middle should now look like the picture below.
Remove both the pins and hold the 2 sides of elastic over each other. Sew down the middle of the elastic to hold it together.
Step 5 Sewing up the scrunchie
Tuck one end of the material into the other end of the material. If your material is likely to fray you can fold down the sides of the material to make it look neater.
When you are happy, sew straight down the material where the material was joined to finish off the scrunchie.
Now you have your very own hand made scrunchie to wear and enjoy. I hope you can see how easy these scrunchies are to make and once you get started you will want to make loads.
