How To Make Rope Coasters For Easter

Rope Coasters are really great fun to make and are much easier than you think. In this blog I am sharing how to make rope coasters for Easter. Coasters can be made for any time of the year. You can also have loads of fun making them and they are a great way of getting creative and using up ribbon and other craft supplies that you may already have. These coasters would also look great if made with different coloured macrame rope.

Materials I used to make the Easter Rope Coasters. Macrame rope, spotty ribbon, yellow felt, hot glue and gun, Bowl, foam board, pencil and scissors.

Step 1

Take a piece of foam board. This could be an off cut that has been left over from another craft project. It does not need to be big piece of foam board, it just needs to be a bit larger than a cup. If you don't have foam board you could use thick cardboard.

Step 2

Take a small bowl and draw around the bowl. This does not need to be a massive bowl, just big enough to make a coaster. Once you have drawn around the bowl, cut the circle out of the foam board.

Step 3

Take a hot glue gun and place hot glue in the centre of the foam circle.

Take the end of the macrame cord and place it on the hot glue. This is going to make the centre of the coaster. Keeping adding hot glue to the foam board. Keep winding the macrame cord around to cover all of the foam board.

Putting the macrame cord on the hot glue and wrapping it around so that it covers all the foam board.

When you get to the edge of the foam board add hot glue.

Keep winding the macrame cord, making sure it covers the edge of the foam board. The coaster will look like the picture below.

Step 4

Take the macrame cord and cut 2 pieces that are 6 inches long.

Using a metal ruler measure 6inches of macrame cord.

Shape the macrame cord to be bunny ear shapes. Make sure that they are going to fit onto the ribbon that you have chosen to use. Add hot glue to the back of the macrame rope.

Press the ribbon you are using onto the macrame cord shaped ears. Once the glue is dry, cut around the macrame cord to form the ears. Repeat this process again so you have 2 ear shapes.

Now you have your two completed bunny ears.

Step 5

Place hot glue on the back of your coaster and attach your bunny ears. Make sure they are stuck down well and postponed to look like ears.

To finish off the back of your coaster, take a colour coordinated piece of felt or material. Using the hot glue stick it to the back of the coaster.

You now have your completed Easter rope coasters to use and enjoy.
